Anyone that has read my ebooks, articles or listened to me speak knows that I recommend intermittent fasting weight loss. If done properly, you do not suffer from excess sagging skin that you might with other fast weight loss systems.  You will gain health, youth and energy using intermittent fasting for weight loss.  Fasting brings with it great spiritual, mental, emotional and physical benefits.  While it is a subject of controversy, for sure, the benefits will usually overshadow any negative comments naysayers have about fasting.

Long fasts carry very critical prep and post fasting requirements.  Long fasts are not easily achievable by the general population and this is where the brilliance of intermittent fasting enters the picture.  Intermittent fasting allows you to cycle your fasting and eating phases, is a healthier option when fasting, maximizes weight loss, and allows you to have a social life while fasting.

Your body uses a certain amount of calories in order to perform its normal daily functions. When you exercise, it needs even more. If there’s no ready source of these calories, as from a recent meal or in your glycogen stores, it draws them from your body fat (and sometimes from muscle). So, the thinking goes that if you are looking at how do you get lean, when you skip eating, you’ll burn your stored body fat instead.

Intermittent fasting is more than just reducing your calories though, there are hormonal benefits including increased insulin sensitivity, especially when combined with exercise as your glycogen stores have been lowered due to the period of fasting and then exercise has been conducted further depleting your glycogen, this means eating after this fasting will result in your glycogen stores being replenished before gaining body fat. Another indirect benefit to all this, is you will spend less time preparing food and fussing about what to eat like all the other lemmings.

Proponents of intermittent fasting have described some very striking results. For example, one trainee experienced a 60 pound weight loss over nine months and reduction of body fat from 10 to 4 percent. That?s pretty good to hear if you are wondering how do you get lean.

There are several different ways to incorporate intermittent fasting into your quest for getting leaner. One is to go a full 24 hours without eating once a week, every ten days, or once a month. The timing depends on what works best for you; experiment with these frequencies to see what makes you feel the best. Another approach is to have a single, large meal just once a day, fasting for the other 18 to 20 hours…
…So if your interest has been pricked it’s well worth a trial, you will experience body fat reduction and learn hunger management, probably more so than other diet regimes as your body will be glycogen depleted for longer, you will be able to translate this feeling into managing your hunger and eating going forward so that you maintain being lean.
