How to Naturally Increase Low Stomach Acid And Improve Your Digestion

It has been proven that digestion is impaired in the majority of Americans over the age of 40.

How to Naturally Increase Low Stomach Acid.

As you age, your ability to digest protein, carbohydrates and fats lessen.  Our digestive system just become tired and overworked over the years and the age of 40 seems to be when it all becomes too much for the body and we see our body systems break down.

Impaired digestion, whether we know it or not, is one of the causes we gain fat in the stomach area over the age of 40.

Here are some easy tips to increase your stomach acid and digestions:

Stop eating grains and refined sugar. The sugar that is naturally present in raw fruit is fine!  Hard to do in our modern world, but not impossible.  Everyone that is serious about their health needs to give up grain and refined sugars.  I’m always looking long term.  I want to be vital well into my elderly years and if that means I give up grains and refined sugars now- I’m in.

Let’s address emotions first!

Examine your emotions towards your own power, confidence and self love. Do you think you are not good enough? Every malady in the body starts with an emotional imbalance. Start exercising your own self power, self-love, and self-confidence.

Yummy foods to increase digestion.

You want to eat bitter foods. In our modern society our tastes are centered around sweet and salty and bitter has been left in the dust. Bitter foods are needed for healthy stomach acid. It’s no wonder we are a society that has digestive and low stomach acid issues!

  • Sauerkraut
  • Bitter Melon
  • Dandelion
  • Arugula
  • Eggplant
  • Spinach
  • Beet Greens
  • Kale
  • Artichokes
  • Radishes
  • Turmeric
  • Black Pepper
  • Saffron

Eat fresh lemons, pineapples, and apple cider vinegar daily. Additionally, you can take Swedish bitters before each meal to increase stomach acid.

Drink beet juice with their leaves daily. Start with 1 beet and move up to 8 beets a day. Beets mixed with apples and oranges tastes amazing when juiced.

Supplements to help you.

HCL supplementation can change your world.  To know your proper dosage, you will need to take this simple test first.

*Here is a link to a beet derived HCL supplement. http://www.pureformulas.com/betaine-hcl-q-650-mg-90-vcaps-by-premier-research-labs.html I’m not affiliated with them in any way nor do I make money off recommending them.  Their product works well and is not full of toxic excipients.

Prior to eating your largest meal of the day, take 1 capsule of HCL. Pay attention and see if you feel a warm, slightly burning sensation in your stomach. This feeling tells you that your acid is sufficiently activated.

If you don’t feel this feeling, take 2 capsules of HCL before your largest meal. Look for that warm, slightly burning sensation.

Keep increasing the dose daily until you feel that warm burning sensation in your stomach. When you feel that, know that the dose the day before is the dose you should be taking.

Take your predetermined dose before each meal.

Something to Consider

There is some additional research that has shown that low stomach acid also has to do with iodine deficiency. Iodine promotes stomach acidity in as little as two weeks.

I recommended taking 4 drops of 2% Magnascent Iodine with 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar in 6 ounces of water every day.  It is important to also combine this with eating Bladderwrack seaweed each day.

After a few months of applying these techniques, your digestion should greatly improve.

Go ahead and share this around with everyone that you know that is either struggling with digestion or is over the age of 40.  The greatest gift you can give them is knowledge about their health.

  1. Fantastic info here!! I’ve done the HCL dose increase before, I made it to 17 and still didn’t feel the acid production so I regrouped with my homeopath. I will look into the iodine as well. Thanks so much!!

  3. I grew up eating bitter melon. At first I thought Good Gawd who would want to eat this? Then I acquired a taste for it. Delicious when sautéed with onions, tomatoes, spices served with rice and fish. Thanks for the info on the value of keeping bitter foods in the diet. Thanks Kelly! 🙂
